Supply Chain
CMM sources goods and services through a global supply chain to satisfy the requirements of our operating sites and functions.
We purchase goods and services related predominantly to site and mining services, energy, logistics and activities associated with fixed plant and mobile assets. We assess suppliers throughout the contracting process to ensure they are aligned with CMM’s Code of Conduct and other relevant policies and procedures. This is also managed through our contract management practices.
Supply chain management
Strong and effective supplier partnerships are essential to realising our vision and aligning with our values. We seek to work with safe and environmentally and socially aware and responsible organisations.
In our supplier engagement and contract award process, we undertake a comprehensive assessment across a range of criteria including commercial, quality and technical capabilities. When selecting suppliers, we also assess a range of non-financial criteria including health and safety management and performance, environmental management, local capability training, social contribution and commitment to local employment.
As part of our supplier engagement process, we also seek formal agreement from suppliers to comply with our Code of Conduct and Anti-Corruption policies as well as other relevant Company standards, policies and procedures, including those related to human rights, health and safety and the environment.
Modern Slavery
In 2018, the Australian Government introduced the Modern Slavery Act 2018 (Cth), which requires businesses to report annually, from 2020, on the risks of modern slavery in their operations and supply chains. They must also report the action they have taken to assess and address those risks – as well as the effectiveness of their response.
CMM has been undertaking a company-wide modern slavery assessment and is implementing a series of controls to ensure we have systems in place to prevent the presence of modern slavery in our supply chains particularly via our due diligence processes. As part of this, suppliers may be required to complete a questionnaire prior to, or during, any engagements with CMM that asks directly for information relating to, among other things, their human rights record and their own controls to prevent modern slavery. We have also developed and released our new CMM Supplier Code of Conduct, which our suppliers will be required to meet.
CMM released its first Modern Slavery Statement in June 2021 and its second Modern Slavery Statement in June 2022.
